AVI-8 proudly announces the highly anticipated launch of the Flyboy Spirit of Tuskegee Chronograph Limited Edition, a special collaboration with Tuskegee Airmen Inc. (TAI) for the third time. This exclusive series pays homage to the heroic legacy of the iconic Tuskegee Airmen, who made history as the pioneering, all-black corps during World War II.
Each of the four variants is inspired by celebrated members of the Tuskegee Airmen community:
The Spirit of Tuskegee chronicles the heartwarming story of Captain Matthew Quy and his wife Tina, who acquired and restored a vintage Stearman biplane. To their astonishment, they discovered it was one of the surviving planes used to train the Tuskegee Airmen. Renamed "Spirit of Tuskegee," the Quys passionately flew the plane to air shows, educating people about the Airmen's history.
To commemorate this special launch, AVI-8 has collaborated with Atlanta-based illustrator and graphic designer, Derrick Whitfield. His exceptional portraits of the celebrated Tuskegee Airmen members grace the packaging, adding an artistic touch to this exclusive timepiece.
AVI-8 continues its commitment to giving back to the community by donating 10% of the net sales from each Tuskegee Airmen Limited Edition timepiece to support TAI's youth programs and educational initiatives. The collaboration aims to expose disadvantaged youth to aviation careers and promote the true legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen.
